Interview with a Hola Ghost

MMP – Who plays what?

HG –  We used to be:
Hola Pete (Sandorff): Lead vox, guitars, keyboards and percussion
Jeppe B. Jessen: Bass, back vox
Mia Olsen: Keyboards and back vox
Ghost 707: (machine) Drums
–       Mia Olsen left the band to start a new one, because she thought there was too many skulls and too little flowers involved, and she was right to do so, because that will most likely not change.
–        In 2011 we put the Roland 707 drum machine aka. Ghost 707 on pension, and hired a human drum machine called  “Ghost Brother” (Kristian Sandorff) who also sing back vox

MMP – Could you describe yourselves in a few words?

HG – WE are a Mexican Death Surf band from Denmark, or the Copenhagen Gringos –
All three members of the current lineup, has been friends and family for most of our lifes. WE have known Jeppe since 1984. So when touring we usually get well on our way without too much trouble, and we know each other well enough to leave each other alone when needed. We have been playing together since the 80’ies where we started out in a new wave band, and later on we played in a post rock band releasing 3 albums. Kristian and Peter has been playing with Nekromantix as well, so weve been active together for quite a while. This also means that we know each other very well on stage, in the studio, in the rehearsalroom, etc. and that’s also a big advantage. Off course we are also great fans of Ennio Moricone, Dark Disco, Psychobilly, and a lot of other great bands out there worth listening to.

Interview with Wanton

MMP – Who plays what? Could you describe yourselves in a few words…

Wanton – So, okay, Wanton is a four-headed beast consisting of Santeri Kero/Lead vocals, Eetu Ritakorpi/Drums and backing vocals, Oskari Nieminen/Guitars and backing vocals and Santeri Toivonen/doublebass.

We’re pretty different kinda people, who share the same passion for the music and that is what brings us together as a band.
MMP – How did the band get started?
Wanton – The band started in a way that I think a fair share of bands get started: A night of heavy drinking between friends! Santeri K and Eetu had an idea to start a band while drinking, and the genre was just picked there on the spot. Psychobilly, because that kind of music was rare to hear in a small city at west-coast Finland. Soon Eetu got his friend Oskari to play the guitar in the band and by a happy accident we were introduced to the doublebass player Santeri T. We started practicing after that and then played our first gig in a local pub. Since then we’ve been doing gigs and our own music.
MMP – Who writes the music?
Wanton – The songwriting is mostly by Santeri K and Santeri T, with Eetu and Oskari steadily pitching in with fresh ideas. So far all the lyrics are written by Santeri K.

After we finished with Gutworm in Dec 2009, Neil called us all in early 2012  to say he had some ideas for a new project, and he wanted to get a band back together with the addition of Adi on vocals. The result is Krysthla.
